This course is designed to help food pantry staff and volunteers prepare for hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters. You’ll learn how to make a plan, protect your building and food, communicate with your team, and safely reopen after the storm. The goal is to help you feel more prepared and confident when emergencies happen.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  1. Create a simple disaster plan for your agency
  2. List steps to protect your building, food, and supplies before a storm
  3. Describe how to keep staff, volunteers, and neighbors safe during a disaster
  4. Identify at least 3 ways to communicate with your team and community
  5. Explain what to do after a disaster to safely reopen and serve your neighbor
